History
Nieman Inc. began in 1996 as a series of freelance assignments in marketing and product development that led to the creation of a full editorial development company. Over the next two decades, Nieman Inc. has adapted to each trend and new technology and has successfully partnered with clients to solve problems and meet goals.
By 2005, the firm's client list included a large number of basal and supplemental publishers, including National Geographic, Holt McDougal, Glencoe, Macmillan, EMC Publishing, Sadlier-Oxford, Zaner-Bloser, Pearson, and others.
By 2010, Nieman Inc. had also begun developing digital curricula. We created interactive whiteboard (IWB) lessons for, among others, Promethean Planet, Dorling Kindersley, National Geographic Classroom Magazines, and FOSS. We also worked with McGraw-Hill to create the online writing program Writer’s Workspace, digital CINCH Math slideshows, and the Networks World History print and digital program.
In the following years, we produced one of the very first Common Core literature products on the market, the Common Core Companions, for Prentice Hall. Meanwhile, work continued with both reading and math publishers to revise their programs for the Common Core, including Pearson's ReadyGEN and HMH's Go Math! and On Core IWB lessons. We also created thousands of PARCC- and SBAC-like assessment items for a number of publishers and programs.
In 2013, we turned our attention to new media, including apps—Preparing for Standardized Tests—and interactive eBooks—The Presidency, Exploring Space, and The Constitution.
Today, we continue to help our partners revise existing materials and produce new programs. Recent projects include multiple editions of McGraw-Hill's StudySync literature and IMPACT social studies programs. Nieman Inc. also partnered with Pearson to prototype, plan, and develop the myView Literacy reading program for both the Texas and national markets.
